yield percentile

Learn what yield percentile means and how to use historical yield data to find attractively priced dividend stocks.

Yield Percentile (5-Year)

Yield percentile shows where a stock's current yield ranks compared to its historical range over the past 5 years.

How to Read It

  • 90th percentile: Current yield is higher than 90% of historical yields - potentially undervalued
  • 50th percentile: Yield is at the historical median - fair value
  • 10th percentile: Yield is lower than 90% of historical yields - potentially overvalued

Why It Matters

High yield percentile suggests the stock is trading at a historically low price relative to its dividend - often a buying opportunity if fundamentals remain strong.

How Dividend.Direct Uses It

Yield percentile contributes bonus points to Value Score. Stocks in the 90th+ percentile receive an additional 10 points.
